Entrepreneurship is not only about starting your own business: it is the capacity to be creative, innovative, act upon opportunities and ideas in order to transform them into value for others. When it comes to being an entrepreneur, there are a lot of entrepreneur personality traits involved.
A lot of people are born to be leaders. They will usually do an outstanding job when facing situations that are common on an entrepreneurial journey. However, a lot of people out there are trapped in 9/5 jobs. They don’t realize that deep down they have the spirit of an entrepreneur.
Moreover, they might be scared and not trust themselves. They might think that only others have what it takes to be an entrepreneur. This might actually be your situation as well, the reason why you are holding back. Because of this, you need to understand in detail what having an entrepreneur spirit means. By doing that, you will know how to spot and develop these traits in yourself.
Keep reading to know how to catch the spirit of an entrepreneur and 5 Top Entrepreneur personality traits if you want to start your business.
1). Ambition
Tip Number one is Ambition. To become an entrepreneur, you have to be ambitious. Unfortunately, more often than not, the word ambition has a negativity connotation. This is, however, the wrong way to look at things. There is nothing wrong about wanting something better, or feeling like you deserve something better.
If you are 100% satisfied with your current desk work, then becoming an entrepreneur isn’t for you. To start this journey, you need to have a constant mindset of wanting to grow more and more. If you are fine where you are and are not willing to work to become more, then there is no point. The ambition here isn’t just about money, but improving yourself and breaking the ties that we grew up listening to.
2). Problem-Solving
Secondly, if there is one thing that you will have in abundance when starting a business is problems. Even if you think you are prepared, things can happen. It doesn’t matter if you planned this whole strategy for years. Challenges are something that you simply can’t avoid. With this in mind, having problem-solving skills become crucial for an entrepreneur.
This is something that a lot of people might be born with. However, it is also something that you can develop with time. The more experienced you are, the more prepared you will be. Then, you have the ability and knowledge to deal with any kind of situation that might come your way.
3). Creativity
Launching a StartUp and opening a business to do just what others are already doing won’t take you anywhere. You need to bring something new or fresh to the table. To do that, creativity will be a crucial factor. You don’t need to find yourself having the most creative ideas in the world. However, you need to learn how to look at things differently.
This will allow you to provide a different point of view to a problem. Then, all that your business or company needs to do is offer a solution. You can even do the same as other companies, but better. To do that, you will also need creativity to come up with new strategies and features that might help with the task.
4). Positivity
You need to believe in yourself. Also, you need to believe in your business and have a positive outlook on things. Have you ever met a successful entrepreneur? You might have noticed that they usually have one thing in common, which is their positive attitude. They are not grumpy and caught up with authority.
They are leaders, and people who are willing to listen and have a different approach to life. This is something that might be natural to you. Or even, this can be something that you develop with time. However, positivity walks hand to hand with being an entrepreneur. If you want things just like a typical “boss” type of CEO would do, then maybe entrepreneurship isn’t for you.

5). Leadership
I have written before in an article that discusses the difference between a boss and a leader precisely. The basic principle here is that a lot of the qualities of being a good leader are necessary to have an entrepreneur spirit. Meanwhile, the traits of a boss have little to no space in this type of setting.
To put it simply, to be a good leader, you need to be humble. You also need to listen to others, including your team. A lot of bosses are not open to feedback because they think they are better than everyone. This holds them in place and prevents them from growing.
A good leader also takes responsibility. They are heavily involved with the project and willing to work hard for it. They are not the type of bosses that barely show up at their own business. Being so, to do be a good leader and have good leadership is crucial here. This might even be the determinant factor for your business to thrive or not.
The Bottom Line…
To have the spirit of an entrepreneur is to be brave and adventurous. Especially considering that a lot of the things that come with this type of job have risks. If you play safe and are not willing to trust your abilities, this might not be for you. However, if you have noticed that you are someone who wasn’t made to work on a 9/5 job, then this is it.
Being an entrepreneur is about making your own freedom. To do that, you will need creativity, ambition, leadership, positivity and other qualities that will help you along the way. If you don’t think these are things that you naturally have, develop them. You can always improve and become a better version of yourself. This will also prove how much you can actually adapt to situations, which is also an essential trait for an entrepreneur.
