Living life surrounded by positive energy is a lot of people’s goals. You are considered more mature and wise when you learn how to “shut down” the negatives without letting them affect your life. But what if I told you that embracing the negatives can actually help you grow in so many different ways?
The concept that we can eliminate fear, frustration, anger and many other negatives emotions from our lives are simply not realistic. Especially when it comes to fear, these emotions are there for a reason and they allow us to grow and protect ourselves.
When we talk about negatives, we are also not talking just about emotions. A negative thing can be that one thing that didn’t work out, that plan that never left the papers or those moments when we are most on the downs instead of the ups.
You must know by now that we all have these ups and downs. They are present in each aspect of our lives. Be it our professional, personal, or academic lives.
They are also something that is natural to us. Fear helps us to prevent bad decisions. And all of these feelings can actually help us grow. Here are some of the reasons why you should start embracing the negatives and how they can help you grow.
1. Managing x Avoiding
“Don’t be scared”. “You shouldn’t cry”. “Don’t feel this way”. These are statements that we most frequently use whenever we notice that someone is going through negatives.
Regardless if it is because their new job is not doing that well, or because they just broke up with their partner, we always encourage people to not feel a certain type of wellness.
We are constantly told all the time that we should be fearless, especially when we are talking from an entrepreneur’s point of view, we often associate starting your own business only if one is fearless.
We associate any kind of personal success to being brave and basically shutting down the negatives. But just because we pretend we can eliminate these emotions, will they actually not be there?
Anytime we decide to avoid any negatives in our lives, we already lost, simply because it is impossible to live life without fear. It is impossible to start something new without the butterflies in our stomach.
This fear is important to make us make good decisions. It is this fear that will make us think twice before signing a contract or investing our resources in something. When we are often telling others they shouldn’t be scared, we eliminate the chances of them learning how to manage this fear instead.
If the negatives are things that we all go through, whether it is a bad experience, a failed business or a broken heart, then we must learn how to deal with it rather than avoid it altogether.
Instead of telling people they shouldn’t be scared of opening a new business, how about teaching them how to not let this fear stop them from trying?
2. Embracing the negatives
We are often told that the key to success is spreading positive energy. And this is true. It will be much healthier if you manage to focus on the positive things that are happening instead of giving too much energy to the negativity.
But here’s the thing, the negatives will be there regardless. So overcoming the negatives are much more about learning how to deal with them, than pretending they don’t exist.
Positive psychology is something that is heavily studied at the moment. And a lot of the results are very promising. Surrounding yourself by positive influences can actually help and improve your well-being.
But learning how to embrace the negatives is just as important. If you avoid these feelings and moments like they are your worst enemy when they come and they will come you don’t know how to deal with them.
Someone that doesn’t feel fear is also careless. They have nothing to lose and so it is much easier to make decisions out of spite. These decisions can often lead to bad experiences that will further create more negatives.
Fear makes us careful. Negativity gives us an opportunity to value the positives and shift our energy towards things that are important. As well as the things we can control.
They say that you can only know heaven once you have met hell. And this is true. Someone who has never had negatives and avoided them at all costs doesn’t value the positives as much.
The negatives make you humble, hardworking, and just overall a stronger individual.
3. Getting to know Heaven
Once you have learned about the importance of embracing the negatives is time to know how to make the positives something heavily present in your life. Luckily for us, many studies about positives are being made. And they teach a few important tricks, you might say, that allows us to attract them to our lives.
As shocking as it might be, a lot of what it is important to lead a positive life comes down to not being judgmental about your situation. Learning how you can overcome what is happening and knowing this will teach us a lesson.
This removes the frustration and anger and allows us to see any situation as part of the journey. Self-awareness is all about that. Learning that having “fake positivity” can actually be harmful. And that dealing with the situation at hand in a humble way is a much better strategy.
Key Takeaway…
Embracing the negatives is about growth. I would go as far as to say it is the key to success. It takes you out of your bubble and makes you wiser and smarter. It also makes you stronger and willing to take more risks. You have dealt with fear before, this isn’t something new, and therefore it won’t stop you.
Especially when it comes to your career, or when you are looking to become an entrepreneur, this is something that will often come your way. The necessity to embrace the negative and learning from it. Being willing to accept and grow from it will be what actually leads you to the positives.
